They may be small, but they will steal their owners'
hearts. Pets of all kinds will be celebrated at the
Canwest Pet Expo this weekend at Tradex in
Abbotsford.
This annual consumer show features
creatures ranging from bunnies to boas, pigs to
parrots. Visitors will find hundreds of pet products
and foods, services, entertainers, clubs and
organizations that cater to pets. The retailers,
breeders, associations and service providers are
there to meet the public and to answer questions.
Special guests include Safari Jeff and Shannon
with their Great Green Adventure, an exciting and
interactive live show in which they showcase some of
the world's most ancient animals, the reptiles and
amphibians.
Meet Cretaceous the dwarf crocodile, Father Time
the giant tortoise, Bonita the giant boa constrictor
and many other fascinating reptiles.
Get up close and personal with an array of
beautiful captive born creatures and learn their
positive message of conservation through education.
Jeff and Shannon shows are on Saturday (12:30
p.m. and 3:45 p.m.), and Sunday (12:30 p.m. and 3:30
p.m.).
There are also demonstrations by dog drill teams
and the Matsqui Flyball and Agility Club. There will
be several seminars on pet care, with presentations
by the B.C. Exotic Bird Society and the Greyhaven
Exotic Bird Sanctuary.
There will be sessions on first aid for dogs and
cats, animal reiki and telepathy by Shiri Joshua's
Centre for Human and Animal Healing, pointers by
Nowwithem Kennels, and primers on snakes and
reptiles by the Westcoast Society for the Protection
and Conservation of Reptiles.
Pets on leashes are welcome - owners must keep
them under control and clean up after them. There
