How To Foster

About Fostering
Greyhaven's Foster Program helps provide
a temporary nurturing home for birds
that have a good chance for adoption;
but are either too young, sick, injured,
unattractive, under socialized or
emotionally stressed to survive in the
shelter environment. The opportunity for
rehabilitation in a nurturing foster
home has proven very successful. Healthy
birds of various size and species are
also placed in foster care when space is
limited in our shelters.
A limited number of foster
homes are used. If you are interested in helping the birds and
becoming a Foster Parent Volunteer,
please take a few minutes to fill out
the foster application. On behalf of
the birds - thank you!

Feature Foster Bird:

Bijou -
Kakariki
My
name is
Bijou
and I am
such a
pretty
Kakariki.
I am 4
years
old and
a sweet
little
feathered
companion.
It is
really
nice to
be able
to have
free
flying
time out
of my
cage and
although
I am not
happy
with
human
hands I
will
land on
your
shoulder
or head
whichever
looks
the best
place to
me at
the
time.
In
order to
have me
in your
life it
is
imperative
that you
know
about my
species.
I have
to have
fruit
and
veggies
in my
diet on
a daily
basis.
I am
very
fast on
my feet
and am
considered
quite
the road
runner
when I
want to
be. With
that in
mind I
do not
do well
with
cats or
small
dogs.
Their
instincts
will not
do me
any
good,
and I
cannot
be
placed
in that
situation.
Thanks
for
reading
my bio

you want

loving
