Placing Your Bird with Greyhaven?
If you are thinking of placing
your bird with Greyhaven, please
review the information below
carefully before calling.
The Process:
Note: Please do
not bring any birds to the Greyhaven
sanctuary.
We are not
able to accept any birds there due
to strict quarantine procedures that
we follow before allowing any new
bird(s) into the sanctuary.

Greyhaven receives a call
from an owner needing to place
their bird. Please call
604-878-7212 and leave a message
(this is only a voicemail line)
or email us at
info@greyhaven.bc.ca.
Someone will get back to you
within 24 hours. If your
situation is urgent/critical for
the well-being of the bird,
please state this in your
message to us.

Once a Greyhaven
representative speaks with the
owner and it is determined that
Greyhaven can take the bird, we
then need to find a
quarantine/foster home for the
bird. This process generally
takes a few days.

If a quarantine/foster home
can't be found, we will contact
you and see if putting you on a
waiting list for the next
available home is an option. If
not, we may need to look at
other options.

Once a quarantine/foster
home has been found, we will
make arrangements for you to
drop off your bird at a
Greyhaven Director's home. If
you don't have a vehicle, we can
make arrangements to pick up the
bird from your house.

Your bird must come fully
equipped with his home (cage),
toys and a few weeks worth of
the food he/she has been used to
eating. A complete write-up of
your bird's habits, behaviors,
eating and sleeping patterns,
bathing routine, etc. would be
very helpful to us.

When we receive your bird,
you will be asked to sign an
Admittance Form which assigns
legal ownership of your bird
over to Greyhaven.

Greyhaven is strongly committed
to the welfare of the birds
relinquished to us. Our process has
been designed to guarantee that
every parrot in our care will be
placed in a permanent, or long-term,
caring home.
